By registering for or participating in the marathon, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Eligibility & Entry

Participation in IKOGOSI Marathon is free.

Participants must:

  • Provide accurate registration information.
  • Register using the official registration platform.
  • Be physically fit to participate.

2. Participant Conduct

Participants are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship and respect throughout the event.

Participants must:

  • Follow all instructions issued by race officials.
  • Follow the official race route.
  • Observe all checkpoint requirements.
  • Respect volunteers and fellow runners.
  • Follow medical instructions where necessary.

The following are prohibited:

  • Cheating
  • Unauthorized assistance
  • Dangerous behaviour
  • Offensive language
  • Political demonstrations
  • Illegal substances

Participants failing to comply may be removed from the event.

3. Liability & Indemnity

  • Participation is entirely at the participant's own risk.
  • Participants acknowledge that marathon running involves inherent risks including injury, illness, disability, and death.
  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, participants release Ikogosi Marathon Initiative, sponsors, volunteers, and government agencies from liability except in cases of proven gross negligence or willful misconduct.
  • Participants are encouraged to obtain personal medical and accident insurance before race day.

4. Event Changes

The organisers reserve the right to:

  • Postpone the marathon.
  • Modify the race route.
  • Adjust event schedules.
  • Change race procedures.
  • Cancel the event where necessary.

Such changes may occur because of:

  • Severe weather
  • Government directives
  • Public health emergencies
  • Civil unrest
  • Security threats, and
  • Other Force Majeure events

Because registration is free, no financial compensation shall be payable in such circumstances.

III. Withdrawal & Registration Policy

Registration

  • Registration for IKOGOSI Marathon 2026 is completely free.

Withdrawal

  • Participants unable to attend are encouraged to notify the organisers through the official website or email so that available slots may be allocated to other interested runners.
  • There is no penalty for withdrawal.

Cancellation of Registration

The Organising Committee reserves the right to cancel any registration where:

  • False information has been provided.
  • Event rules have been violated.
  • Fraudulent activity is detected.
  • Security concerns arise.
  • Participant conduct may endanger others.

Event Cancellation

If the marathon is cancelled, postponed, or modified due to circumstances beyond the organisers' control, participants will be notified through:

As participation is free, no financial compensation will be payable.

IV. Race Rules & Regulations

All participants in the Ikogosi Marathon 2026 are required to read, understand, and comply with the following rules. Registration for the race constitutes acceptance of these terms.

Eligibility & Registration

  • Participants must complete the official registration process (online or at designated collection centres) and provide accurate personal and emergency contact information.
  • Registration is non-transferable to another person unless expressly authorised by the Organising Committee.

Bib Number

  • The race bib must be worn visibly on the front of the body throughout the race and must not be folded, cut, or obscured.
  • Running under another person's bib number ("bib mules") is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification of both parties.

Course Conduct

  • Runners must always remain on the officially marked and marshalled course and must not take shortcuts.
  • Wheeled devices (bicycles, skateboards, scooters, bikes) are not permitted on the course, except approved wheelchair and bikes for the media team.
  • Runners must comply with instructions from race marshals, security personnel, and medical staff at all times.
